Responsibility

The core principles of Pirkanmaan kierrätys ja työtoiminta are ecological, social and economic responsibility.

The association's values

Pirkanmaan kierrätys ja työtoiminta ry is a non-profit, ideologically unaffiliated and public-benefit association based in Tampere, whose purpose is to offer households and communities in Pirkanmaa an effortless and reliable channel for reusing goods and materials.

Our core principles are ecological, social and economic responsibility.

Social responsibility

Reuse and recycling

In 2022, around 520,000 items and garments found a new home through us. A total of 1,000,000 kilograms of goods passed through us, of which around 650,000 kg (~ 65 %) went to reuse and around 350,000 kg (~ 35 %) were utilized as recycled material as well as heat and energy.

On the way toward a carbon-neutral Tampere

The City of Tampere is one of our most important cooperation partners, and we want to highlight our support for the Carbon-Neutral Tampere 2030 roadmap drawn up by the City of Tampere. The association's activities particularly support theme 5 of the roadmap, Sustainable consumption, whose benefit target by 2030 is “Consumption is sustainable and the circular economy works”.

Of the action sets under theme 5, sustainable consumption, we particularly promote the following through our own activities: 5.1. Waste management, 5.2. Circular economy, 5.3. Economical consumption and 5.6. Increasing environmental awareness. You can explore the roadmap and its themes in more detail here.
