Donating and reusing

We accept intact, clean and reusable household goods from homes and business premises. Over the years consumption habits change and the supply of certain items is considerably larger than the demand, such as three-section bookshelves, non-fiction books and book series. For this reason we have to limit the acceptance of certain products, either entirely or from time to time.

Yes. We pack and clear estates, business premises, offices and storage units affordably. If needed, we make a free assessment visit – get in touch to arrange it by phone at 045 882 4066 or by email at kuljetus@pirkanmaankierratys.fi. Our website also has a pickup form for getting in touch.

The goods are sorted carefully and for everything usable we aim to find a new owner through our second-hand stores or partners.

Goods not suitable for the reuse center are delivered to be utilized as material in the manufacture of new products.

Material not suitable for reuse or utilization as raw material, but suitable as energy waste, is delivered to the Tammervoima waste-to-energy plant to produce electricity and district heating.

We offer a paid waste station service for items that are not saleable or for which there is no demand through the reuse centers. You can also deliver non-reusable goods, sorted, to local waste stations or waste points. You can order the waste station service with the pickup form or at kuljetus@pirkanmaankierratys.fi. You can also call transport directly at Tel. 045 882 4066.

Unfortunately we do not accept building materials at this time. As for construction tools and machines, we can accept usable and intact hand tools, power tools and small machines.

The environmental footprint of a used item is minimal compared to a new one. The reuse of materials, in turn, saves the environment by reducing the need for virgin raw materials and energy, and at the same time it also creates new products, services and technology, and thereby creates new jobs. Because a large share of industrial raw materials is imported, reusing materials is also an investment in Finland's national economy.

Most household items, as well as the waste generated in households, can be recycled. Read here what household goods reuse centers accept. The Pirkanmaan Jätehuolto sorting guide, in turn, tells you which waste belongs where. You can conveniently find the nearest recycling point for your sorted waste online at kierrätys.info.

You can bring donations to our stores during their opening hours, or order a pickup service for larger items and batches of goods using the form or by phone at 045 882 4066.

Along with transport we also offer, when needed, an affordable waste station service for goods that are not suitable for the stores or for the association's reuse. This way the customer can, if they wish, easily get rid of the entire batch of goods at once.

Buying and paying

You can pay for your purchases in cash or with the most common debit and credit cards.

Yes. You can order affordable home delivery at the store checkout when making your purchase. The price depends on the distance.

More information: kuljetus@pirkanmaankierratys.fi or call Tel. 045 882 4066.

Larger items such as furniture can be reserved for a few days at the store checkout. Products cannot be reserved by phone, email or social media.

At the reuse centers in Nekala and Lielahti, students receive a 10 % discount by showing a valid student card at the checkout. For expensive items and large batches of goods, you can also submit an offer to info@pirkanmaankierratys.fi.

Reuse center operations

All proceeds are used to run the operations of the reuse stores and, through employment, to prevent social exclusion, to create an ecologically sustainable future and to advance the circular economy. The reuse centers' operations are run by Pirkanmaan kierrätys ja työtoiminta ry, a non-profit, ideologically unaffiliated association founded in 2011. Nextiili ry continues as an independent operator from 1 April 2021.

The reuse center and Nextiili ry's Nextiili store (Sellukatu 21) operate in Lielahti. Nextiili was founded in 2015 to handle the recycling of clothing and textiles within Pirkanmaan kierrätys ja työtoiminta ry. Nextiili ry operates as an independent operator from 1 April 2021. Our cooperation is nonetheless close. Among other things, Nextiili sorts textiles for the recycling center's stores. Nextiili has two textile collection points. One at the Lielahti recycling center and one at Nextiili's premises at Sellukatu 21, where clean and tidy textiles suitable for reuse are accepted.

Quite possibly!

It is possible to come to the reuse centers for pay-subsidized work, a work trial and a traineeship. We also regularly have trainees from vocational qualifications. Alongside the work we offer training, coaching, support and guidance. Pirkanmaan kierrätys ja työtoiminta ry sorts goods, not people – in principle, everyone is welcome to work with us.

More information here.

The reuse centers employ about 100 people per year. Some come for a short traineeship or work trial, while others stay longer, for example in pay-subsidized work, apprenticeship training or project work, and some are in permanent employment. In terms of educational background and work history, the staff is very diverse.

We are always open to cooperation that promotes reuse, the circular economy, employment and a sense of community. Get in touch with executive director Mauri Hakala (reuse centers, tel. 050 3232 500) or Nextiili ry's Sari Tuomaala at sari.tuomaala@nextiili.fi  and tell us more about your idea!
